Dr. Chukwu Micheal Ibezim hails from Iwu-Awaa, Awgu LG of Enugu State and was born on 13th September, 1952.


He attended primary School at St Marks School, Isu-Awaa where he obtained his first school leaving certificate in 1963.

M.I, as he is fondly called by his peers attended secondary school in the famous Awgu County Secondary School, Nenwe Awgu LGA where he obtained his West Africa School Certificate (WASC), certificate in 1970. His education was punctuated by the civil war.

He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology in 1977 from the University of Ibadan.

Dr. Chukwu M I did his NYSC service at Akure Ondo State where he taught anatomy and physiology at the School of Nursing, Akure.

In 1978, he enrolled to study medicine at the University of Ibadan and graduated in 1983 with MBBS degree. He did his housemanship at the Parklane Specialist Hospital (now Enugu State University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital (ESUT) and University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Enugu.

He enrolled for post graduate study at the University of Nigeria Teaching hospital, department of Obstetrics and gynecology in 2005 (Supernumerary status)  where he obtained the Fellowship of the West Africa College of Surgeon  (FWACS) in 2011.


After completing his NYSC service in 1978, he worked with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the Federal Ministry of Health in Yaba Lagos as Drug Registrar.

On obtaining his medical degree, he had a short spell in the private medical practice for five years before being employed by the State government. At first he worked as a Senior Medical Officer in hospitals and was later to be transferred to the administrative cadre where he was deputy director in the medical services department.

In 2008 December, he was drafted to head the National Blood Transfusion Service, Enugu Centre as the State Coordinator. The position he holds till date.


Dr. Chukwu M.I is married to Mrs Felicia Chiebanom Chukwu who is currently the Principal School of Midwifery ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane, Enugu.

They are blessed with six children (4boys &2 girls). He is a Christian of the Catholic denomination. He is a member of Rotary Club, Coal City Hills, a member of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), a member of Society of Obstetrics and gynecology of Nigeria      (SOGON) and a clan head , Isu-Awaa his home town.


His interest lies in doing what is right at all times especially in any society, organization etc he belonged.

Reading and carrying out house chores are his hobbies.
